For those of us who think of ourselves as "non-backbenders", backbends can be a daunting part of the yoga practice - but it need not be this way.
In this special workshop by Jeremy, learn how to prepare the body for the backbend practice, working on backbending in the entire body, finding length in the spine and without compressing the lower back.
We will also explore backbends through a variety of poses that benefit the most from improvements in strength and technique such as King Pigeon.
Key prep poses, progressions and prop usage will also be covered, to support your home practice.
With the understanding that backbends are not just about flexibility in the spine, we can then start to explore more into this beautiful heart-opening practice, reap its benefits and maybe one day fall in love with backbends as well.
Who this Is For:
Yogis with some experience (i.e. not a total beginner) seeking safe and effective guidance towards deepening their backbend practice.
Pre-requisite
To gain the most benefits from this workshop, you should have established for yourself a foundational strength and flexibility enough to be able to hold a Bridge Pose for five breaths, although less proficient yogis will also be accommodated.
