This period of Enhanced Social Distancing, also called the Circuit Breaker, requires us to stay at home and withdraw ourselves from our busy lives and from each other. This might be a time of uncertainty, but it has also been identified by various spiritual Teachers as a special occasion and rare opportunity, where conditions are ripe for personal transformation and Inner growth. There has never been a time like this, where we have the space to step back from our daily lives and relationships to reconnect with the Peace and Stillness within.
This April, Priyan invites you to capitalise on your enforced isolation as an opportunity to spend seven days learning and establishing yourself in the practice of Meditation. Through his guidance, you will transform your period of isolation into a Spiritual Retreat in the truest sense.
About Priyan
Priyan is the founder of the Nithya Priyan School of Yoga, a yogic community in Singapore that practices postural yoga (Asana) around a 27 week structured curriculum that incorporates elements of Mindful movement and Breathing.
In addition to his proficiency in Asana practice, he has over 12 years of experience in Meditation, studied from diverse sources such as the Christian tradition, yogic Kriya and Hrdaya dhyana in the Advaita tradition, Buddhist Vipassana and the modern practice of MBSR. He is able to draw fluently from his diverse experiences and influences to put forward a coherent and effective framework for your understanding of the why’s and how’s of the practice in an easily understandable and non-sectarian way. Most importantly, the space of calm he creates in his sessions is extremely conducive and supportive to the deepening of your practice.
He has conducted large scale corporate meditation intensives and talks for companies such as Property Guru and the IRAS, but also remains committed to one-to-one guidance and small group retreat intensives.
7 Day Course Curriculum
Through 7 daily livestream sessions, he will answer your questions and difficulties, present and explain a new aspect of the practice for your understanding, propose assignments for you to work on, and begin and end with group meditation practices.
The technique you will learn and gain proficiency in is Anapana Sati or breath awareness meditation in the tradition of Atma Vichara or Self Enquiry.

Participants of this 7 Day Livestreamed Intensive will have the option to deepen their practice even further and learn to conduct meditation and pranayama classes in a 50 Hour Online Teacher Training. Graduates of this course will receive a Completion Certificate and can claim 50 hours of Continuing Education Hours from the Yoga Alliance (YACEP).
Teaching Methodology - learning to create the space required to support the practice of Anapana meditation for others, and essential technical guidance explained.
Pranayama - understanding the yogic energy body and energy theory and developing proficiency in personal practice and teaching.
Advanced meditation - the Body Scan is an advanced technique popularised in the evidence based practice of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn. It is derived from the older practice of Vipassana or Insight Meditation. Learn how to progress towards this advanced technique from your established Anapana practice.
Theory and Philosophy - Learning the Inner workings of your Mind through the Antarkarana and drawing from Zen, Buddhist, Christian, Yogic and Sufi tradition to form a coherent and functional understanding of why we meditate and how it works, as well as the ultimate objectives of the practice.
Practicum - You will be conducting two mock classes online for your fellow students - a 15 minute pranayama session, and a 30 minute meditation session, which will be subject to grading and assessment for the successful completion of the course.
